With Pride events in states across the country, tons of stars have taken part to celebrate and continue to protect LGBTQ rights. As discriminatory efforts have spread across the country, it feels even more important to celebrate Pride and continue to fight to protect LGBTQ rights. ![]() While much progress has been made, many Republican legislators have pushed forth laws to try to oppress members of the LGBTQ community by banning drag shows or trying to prevent transgender youth from obtaining necessary medical care. In recent years, so much progress has been made, including legalizing same-sex marriage and the passage of the Respect for Marriage Act, which further protects it. Beginning with the Stonewall Riots in June 1969, the following year members of the LGBTQ community began marching to commemorate the protests for Gay Rights. ![]() ![]() For over 50 years, June has been a celebration of LGBTQ+ pride.
